January Favorites

Hi babes, I hope your Wednesday is off to a wonderful start and that your week has been productive! I have decided that each month I would like to do a post with some favorites of mine from the previous month. Whether it be make-up products, skin care, hair care, jewelry, etc. My goal is to have at least 4-5 different products or items to share with you and provide my honest opinion. So, with that being said, my January favorites and my thoughts are provided below! All products are directly linked at the end of the post.

Maybelline FIT me Foundation: I was so pleasantly surprised with this foundation! I used to be “give me all the thick full coverage”, but it has just gotten too cakey feeling to me so lately I’ve been trying to keep things on the lighter side. After seeing this foundation recommended by a few other bloggers, I decided to give it a go and I actually love it! This one in particular is the Matte+Poreless for normal to oily skin, but they also have a few other options to tend to various skin types. My top favorite things about this foundation are: it is pretty lightweight, but offers great coverage without the ‘cakey’ feeling, it stays on all day, it doesn’t crease after wearing it for a few hours, it is buildable and it’s so budget friendly (around $8!). I wear the color 120 Classic Ivory for reference.

NYX Slide on, Glide on, Stay on & Definitely a Turn on Waterproof, Extreme Color Lipliner (longest name ever haha!): Lipliner is actually pretty new in my make-up game (call me crazy, I know?!), but boy am I glad I discovered the goodness of this stuff! I started branching out into lipliners when I took my permanent cosmetics class this past June and ever since then it has been a staple in my routine. I started off with an Urban Decay color in a nude/light pink and I’ve ended up here at the NYX liners and have to say, I love them so much more than the UD ones. These liners are creamy and glide on so easily. They’re also very user-friendly in that it is easy to blend and fix areas that need it once it is on. My absolute favorite part about them though is the fact that they’re waterproof so they stay on for soooo long! Not even joking, at the end of the day if my lip stain or lip gloss has worn off, this liner is still typically on! They also have a ton of colors to choose from, but the main ones that I’ve been loving lately are: SLLP02 Bedrose (pink/mauve color) and SLLP14 Nude Suede Shoes (light nude).

Tarte Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette: So I love palettes because of the fact that you get so much more product for the cost, typically. Not only that, but it allows you to try out various products without having to buy them separately. With that being said, something I don’t like about palettes is the storage/travel capabilities. When I’m going somewhere I don’t want to have to lug around a huge palette so I typically just won’t bring it with me. That’s when I found this little number and fell in love! The fact that it is small was the first thing that caught my eye and the second was the price (I believe around $20). After using it for the first time I wasn’t too sure if I was impressed as I thought the bronzer may have been a little too dark for my fair skin, but the more I used it the more I loved it! The bronzer is on the darker side, but using it in moderation gives you such a gorgeous sun-kissed look. The blush is more of a darker rose color, but is just enough of a pop of color. Lastly, the highlighter is super pigmented and leaves such a pretty glow without being too much. I’ve hit pan with the bronzer already so will be replacing this guy ASAP! 🙂

Anastasia Liquid Lipstick: To be honest, I don’t typically splurge on my lip products because of the fact that I have so many of them and love to keep a variety going. I would rather splurge on some of the other main staples in my make-up routine such as foundation, concealer, mascara, etc. With that being said, there are definitely a few favorites of mine that I’m willing to splurge on when it comes to lip products. This particular one is a prestige brand, BUT I got it at a drugstore cost (heck yes!). I actually found this one while browsing at TJ Maxx not too long ago and thought I would be crazy to not give it a try. I love, love, love it! The formula is light enough (I hate when they’re super thick) so it is easy to build and move around, it dries to somewhat of a powder feeling so it doesn’t feel super heavy and it LASTS! They had a few other colors there that I will definitely be going back for and will take a look at the options in Ulta next time I’m there too. (the color I picked up is called Ashton and it is a burnt orange color)

Bare Minerals Eye Brightener: This was something that I contemplated about buying for a few months and finally gave it a go not too long ago. I really like the extra glow it gives over concealer and how it illuminates your eyes to look brighter and more awake. There are even times I will wear just this instead of concealer + the eye brightener. I believe they have a few different color options for this, but I went with the color Luminous 1 (has more of a pink tone).

IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation: Lastly, I had been looking for a new pressed powder foundation and heard great things about this one. I had been using the Estee Lauder Double Wear and I do really like that one as well, but wanted to branch out and try something new. This powder has great coverage and is light enough to wear over a foundation, but also enough to wear alone on those days where you don’t feel like wearing a full-face. I also love that it has SPF 50+ in it because the older I’m getting the more I am starting to realize the strong important of SPF! On a typical day I will use my foundation and concealer and use this pressed powder over-top to set my makeup in place. I am using the color LIGHT.

I hope you babes enjoy this post and look forward to February favorites coming in just a few weeks!

XO

♥ Paige
